LAMA President’s Corner

President's Message - Holiday 2006

Happy Holidays!

Christmas has come a bit early for me this year.

I am pleased to announce that the LAMA Foundation has been granted 501c3 status from the IRS. This designation allows the Foundation to accept charitable tax deductible contributions and donations in order to fund important continuing education programs such as ILAM. I can not thank the LAMA Board of Directors enough for their persistence and support in pursuing this important goal.

We have also received word from the Charles River Foundation that they will continue to support on an annual basis the Charles River Medallion. This prestigious award is given to a deserving member of LAMA who has excelled in the field of Laboratory Animal Management. I would like to personally thank the Charles River Foundation for making this award available now and in the future for our membership.

Now that we have achieved some of LAMA’s goals for 2006, I can focus on some personal goals that I have set for myself in 2007. I am currently enrolled in the CMAR program and will take my first exam by December 1st. Wish me luck! Many of you that know me well understand that I can not walk away from a challenge. If the President of AALAS can complete this program then you can rest assured that the President of LAMA can also. In the coming months I will periodically let you know my status in the hope that I can inspire those of you who are considering but have not yet committed to the process to join me in completing this worthwhile program.

Peace and Joy.

Regina
